Frequently asked questions

Last updated 2026-09-06

This page provides direct answers to the questions players actually ask before and after using the builder: pricing, format support, data sources, and how much to trust a suggestion in a competitive pod. Each answer is short on purpose and links to the methodology or about page when the topic goes deeper.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no paywall and no account requirement anywhere on the site. It runs on donations today, and will carry limited, non-intrusive ads later — every feature stays free for players either way.

Does it work for Brawl on Arena?

Yes. The builder supports Brawl (Arena Historic Brawl) and Standard Brawl alongside paper Commander (EDH). A Brawl build uses the same 100-card pool as Arena's Competitive Brawl queue (launched 2026-06-23); check the queue's banned-commander list before queueing.

What is a bracket?

Wizards of the Coast's Commander Bracket system (1 through 5) rates a deck's power level based on Game Changers, mass land denial, chained extra turns, and two-card infinite combos. The builder targets bracket 2 through 5 depending on the power level you request, and checks the finished list against the official criteria for that bracket.

Why does a build take a minute?

A full build evaluates the entire eligible card pool against the deck corpus each time, rather than serving a cached list. That takes 30 to 90 seconds, since the recommendation model, the synergy graph, and the bracket classifier all run in the same pass.

Do you store my collection?

Your collection is stored only in your browser's localStorage. When you build from it, the list of owned card names is sent with that one request so the engine can restrict the pool; it is not stored on the server.

Where does the data come from?

3,996,039 public decklists scraped from Moxfield, Archidekt, EDHREC, as of 2026-09-06. Moxfield lists train the model but are excluded from the public catalogue pending written permission — see the methodology page for the full breakdown.

Can I trust the suggestions for cEDH?

Treat them as a starting point, not a competitive tuning tool. The corpus has no win-rate data, only likes and views, so it reflects what players build and share rather than what actually wins the most games at a cEDH table.

How is this different from EDHREC?

The underlying lift-based synergy math is similar, but this builder also runs a live collaborative-filtering model, a commander oracle-text synergy graph, and a WotC bracket classifier together in one pass. Every suggestion explains its reasoning per card rather than showing a bare popularity rank.

Can I export to Arena or Moxfield?

Yes. Builds export in Arena deck-import format for pasting straight into the client, and as plain decklist text compatible with Moxfield's importer. Both exports include the commander and any companion or partner correctly labeled.

Will there be ads?

Eventually, yes — limited and non-intrusive, to keep the site free without relying on donations alone. No ad slots exist yet, and none will run on the builder's results screen in a way that blocks reading a decklist.

How do I report a wrong suggestion?

Use the feedback button on any page, or the contact form. Reports go straight to the developer, and wrong card names or missing staples are the fastest kind of report to act on.

Who built this?

Karolis Paulikas, a solo developer based in Lithuania, built and maintains the site and its recommendation engine alone. See About for the full story.
