The engine provides a complete 99-card deck for any legal commander, with a stated reason attached to every card and a check against Wizards' official Commander Bracket rules. There is no paywall, no required account, and no filler card added just to pad the count.

The engine evaluates the full card pool against the corpus and returns a complete deck, each card explained.

What the site does

Commander-aware deck builder

Pick a commander and get a full 99 with a stated reason for every card. The engine reads the commander's oracle text and cross-references nearly 4 million public decklists.

Bracket-aware by default

Builds target a WotC Commander bracket from 2 to 5 using the official Game Changers list, mass land denial, extra turns and two-card combos, so a casual table stays casual.

Deck analysis

Every deck page shows its bracket, role counts (ramp, draw, removal, wipes), mana curve and the staples that the best-regarded lists run and this one does not.

Public deck catalogue

Browse real published decklists by commander, ranked by community likes, to see how other players build the same general before you commit to a list.

Build from your collection

Import a ManaBox, Arena or CSV export and restrict the builder to cards you own. The collection is stored only in your browser; it is sent with a build request and not kept.

Recommendations from real decks

Collaborative filtering trained on nearly 4 million decks, reranked every 6 hours by which suggestions players actually pick.

The Black Grimoire has no paywall and no accounts requirement. It runs on donations now, and will carry limited, non-intrusive ads later. Every feature on this site stays free for players either way.
