Which commander should I build from my collection?

Let your cards decide. Best deck ranks every commander you own by how strong a deck your collection makes for it, then finishes the best one, with an optional budget for the few cards that would help most.

How it works

  1. 1

    Bring your collection

Paste or upload a CSV or TSV export from a collection app (ManaBox, Moxfield, Archidekt and others), a plain list like "1 Sol Ring", an MTGO .dek file or JSON. Columns are detected automatically.

  2. 2

    Rank the commanders you own

Best deck screens your top 24 owned commanders: for each, it builds the strongest deck your cards allow and scores it with the same Deck Score the builder shows.

  3. 3

    Finish the winner

The strongest commander is improved card by card for up to three passes. Set a buy budget and the swaps that raise the score most for the money are added; everything else comes from cards you own.

Questions

How do I find the best commander in my collection?
Import your collection into Best deck. It ranks the commanders you own by how strong a 100-card deck your own cards make for each one, then improves the best deck within an optional buy budget and gives you the full decklist to export.
Which collection formats can I use?
CSV or TSV exports from collection apps such as ManaBox, Moxfield and Archidekt, plain decklist text ("1 Sol Ring" per line), MTGO .dek files and JSON. Columns are detected automatically, and unreadable lines are skipped and reported.
Is it free?
Best deck needs a free account: Free gets 3 runs a day, Pro 15 and Commander 50. Building a deck for one commander you choose, from your collection, is free with no account at all.
How is the best commander chosen?
Each candidate deck gets a Deck Score covering mana base, curve, interaction, card advantage, win conditions and synergy with the commander, measured against millions of public decklists. The commander whose deck scores highest wins.
Do I have to buy cards?
No. With no budget the deck uses only cards you own. With a budget, the climb adds the purchases that improve the deck most and lists them so you can see what you would be paying for.
